Beijing Kitchen - Grand Hyatt Macau
Expansive and bold Beijing Kitchen is celebrated as one of Macau’s best Asian restaurants, making this popular venue an excellent choice for a luxurious experience of northern Chinese flavors and textures. Located in the Grand Hyatt in the City of Dreams resort complex on the Cotai Strip, this is a very close relative (and replica) of the Grand Hyatt’s Made in China restaurant in Beijing. The restaurant’s semi-open kitchen layout allows guests to spy on the action in all four of the restaurant’s kitchens, each dedicated to a specific cuisine specialty, while a master chef orchestrates the action to ensure dishes are served still sizzling.

Chan Kuong Kei
The attractive red and yellow colors on the shop front and on the t-shirts of their efficient workers does make this restaurant stand out from the others. But no need for the extravagant colors, their long lines of customers waiting on their shop door stole all the attention. Their barbecue meats and noodles is what makes the long lines by the door. Roast gooses and barbecue pork are the two most popular choice but it is also good to try their double or triple rice plate.

One could argue that all of Macau is a food paradise, but the actual Food Paradise in the City of Dreams shopping and resort complex on the Cotai Strip is a collection of casual dining options akin to a shopping center food court, with walk-up counters and a shared dining area. A fair variety of specialties from around the world are available: Cantonese, Portuguese/Macanese, Japanese, Italian, and Southeast Asian, as well as drinks and desserts. Prices are reasonable and both MOP and Hong Kong dollars are accepted. Ambiance is casual, with a nice view of the Macau cityscape.

Imperial Court -MGM Grand Macau
This Michelin-starred restaurant, considered to be MGM Macau’s flagship eatery, is renowned for serving modern interpretations of Cantonese dishes in a setting reminiscent of the Qing and Ming dynastic courts. The menu presents all of the standard Chinese delicacies—abalone, shark’s fin, bird’s nest, barbecued duck and pork and wok-fried cuts of premium beef, chicken and pork—but the restaurant’s signature dishes are what draws a crowd. Try the shallow-fried sea cucumber with scrambled egg white and almond sauce, served with slivers of shaved Yunnan ham, or the poached Tianjin cabbage, fungus and Chinese wolfberries in supreme bouillon, presented in a grand Chinese tea cup. The wine selection includes several Portuguese choices. Service is extremely knowledgeable and well-timed.
The dining area’s hushed ambiance is designed to provide an intimate
experience to each table, with sections for smokers and non-smokers, but for
those who truly value privacy there are six private rooms with en-suite
restrooms.
Dinner for two averages MOP600 without alcohol.
